- Salt Lake City requires a business license for every rental, including single family homes. The fee is $193 plus $342 per home, or $35 per home in the city's Landlord/Tenant Program.
- How many people can live in a home
- Up to 3 unrelated people, or 2 unrelated adults and their children. Any number of related people may live together. The city is considering a change to a bedroom based limit.
- Basement apartments
- Allowed when the owner or a relative lives on the property, with one extra parking space and a business license to rent.
